REMEMBER...

The Hugos at mom's first walk on the beach this last chemo June 2011
Check out the hair... its dark and curly (remember I was straight and blonde)

We are really needing these weeks of break from chemo. Once again Dr Pillay is totally right. We can’t even face any elective surgery this year (I thought we’d be doing it as soon as possible)… We’ve been catching up with sleep and catching up with life. What a joy to be getting stronger again… to be able to cook, clean and hang the washing. The things we take for granted J

I’ve also been thinking how quickly we take for granted the Lords answers to many prayers along the way. I’m thankful for His gracious love for us and that He totally understands all that we’ve been coping with. But, I’ve been glad to have the emotional ‘time’ to remember And, as we remember, to think on how faithful Jesus is.

This is how He has answered your and our prayers this past year…

- Dr Steer (surgeon) being so readily able to see me and get me referred to oncology within a week after the cancer diagnosis hit us.

- Ruth Maxwell (SIMer) being immediately available to fly down to us, support us and standing in for Mark in important SIM meetings we were hosting at the time we got the diagnosis.

- For clear full body scans (barring the left breast cancer) done prior to chemo starting.

- Being able to start chemo so quickly after diagnosis thanx to SIMs medical support.

- The amazing response of the tumor to the first chemo – reducing it in size by almost half.

- The kids very quick adjustment to mom without hair.

- Lome Cronje approaching us about doing play therapy with the children and doing so so graciously and lovingly.

- A very uneventful recovery from surgery, a beautiful scar (so I’m told) and clear nodes and edges of the tumor removed.

- My skin coping so well with the radiation.

- My hair not falling out with the 2nd lot of chemo (this was Kara and Sarah’s prayer together J).

- For amazing bulging veins making blood taking and chemo so much easier.

- No nausea with the 2nd lot of chemo.

- Absolutely NO illness for a year, even tho flu abounded around me.

- No delays in any chemo or radiation treatment due to bloods or other complications.

- We are well on track with home schooling.

Jesus is with us each step of the way no matter what the journey.

Thank you to so many who have held us in prayer so faithfully.

Pray that the Lord might give us a clear scan on August 2 and strength to submit to His will and plan.
